About Us

We are a small veteran-owned, family business. Duke served in the US Air Force on active duty for 22 years, retiring in 2018. After retirement from the military, the family moved back to Kentucky and started developing Freedom Ranch. Tara is a full-time school teacher and part-time rancher. We have two amazing, hard-working daughters that help out at the ranch as much as possible, typically during their summer breaks.

Freedom Ranch is a lifestyle. We stay busy raising cattle and take great pride in selling high-quality, all-natural, free-range, grass-fed Angus beef. We enjoy being good stewards of the land and the animals among us, which includes our dogs, cats, donkeys, cattle, goats, chickens, and numerous indigenous critters that share our space in the bluegrass state of Kentucky.

Freedom Ranch Livestock is a cattle ranch operation located on 226 acres in northern Kentucky. We provide Angus Beef from Angus cattle that are raised all-natural, grass-fed, and on free-range pasture.

Our beef is all-natural. We do not use herbicides or pesticides on our cattle operation. Our cattle are not exposed to chemicals.* Our cattle are bred naturally as Mother Nature intended. Our cattle are not genetically modified. Our cattle are not exposed to steroids or antibiotics, unless needed to save their life, in which case they are removed from beef sales. Our cattle are raised in an all-natural way with minimal handling, respectfully, and humanely.

Our cattle are grass-fed. They are not restrained in small lots and fed grain. They have access to grass pastures. Our grass pastures are not perfect; they have weeds like Mother Nature intended it. We do cut our pastures to control weeds and we cut hay fields to feed our herd all-natural grass hay in the winter. Our pasture and hay fields are a mix of Bluegrass, Orchard grass, Timothy, Rye Grass, Fescue, Smooth Bromgrass, and White and Red Clover. All of our grass hay and pasture fields are chemical free — we do not spray to control weeds.

Our cattle are free-range. They have access to large pastures. They are not confined to small spaces. We try to provide an environment that allows the cattle to move and graze the way they were built to. We utilize a rotational grazing system to maintain the health of the herd and the pastures, striking a delicate balance of fertilization of the land with cattle movement, while simultaneously maintaining the health of the pasture and the herd. We have 75 acres of pasture and 55 acres of hay fields to support the cattle. We provide the cattle with freedom of movement to the max extent possible, but we do have perimeter fencing to keep them off the roads and our neighbors’ property. ;)

*we do treat our calves with a one-time de-worming pour-on of Ivermectin.
